The New York Yankees extended spring training invites to 16 non-roster players on Tuesday, including six of their top prospects.

Shortstop Gleyber Torres, who heads the Yankees' list and is Keith Law's No. 4 overall prospect, received a call. The 20-year-old acquired last season from the Chicago Cubs in the Aroldis Chapman trade led the Arizona Fall League in OBP and finished second in slugging percentage en route to MVP honors. Torres will likely begin 2017 in Double-A if he doesn't make the big club out of spring training.

Outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield are other invitees whom New York acquired last season, both packaged in the Andrew Miller trade with the Cleveland Indians.

Frazier advanced to Triple-A before turning 22 on the strength of above-average bat speed from the right side. He currently slots in as the Yankees' No. 3 prospect (No. 27 overall). Sheffield, a southpaw, features a fastball in the 92-95 mph range to go along with a plus changeup and what Law describes as a "fringy" breaking ball. The 20-year-old is currently New York's No. 6 prospect (No. 88 overall).

Pitcher James Kaprielian, the Yankees' first-round pick in 2015, also received an invitation. The hard-throwing righty made four starts at high-A last season before the Yankees shut him down following concerns about his elbow. The 22-year-old returned to pitch in the Arizona Fall League and enters the season as New York's No. 4 prospect (No. 28 overall).
