Phillies slugger Rhys Hoskins homers in return from DL

Phillies slugger Rhys Hoskins homered in his return from the 10-day disabled list Saturday, blasting a three-run shot in the third inning against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Hoskins had been sidelined since May 29, when he suffered a broken jaw by fouling a ball off his own face. The 25-year-old Hoskins batted second in the lineup and started in left field Saturday.

After popping out to right field in the first inning, Hoskins gave the Phillies a 3-2 lead on his three-run blast in his second at-bat. It was his seventh homer of the season.

The Phillies placed outfielder Dylan Cozens on the 10-day DL to make room for Hoskins on the 25-man roster.

Hoskins entered the contest with a .233 batting average and 28 RBIs this season. He burst onto the scene in 2017, when he had 18 homers and 48 RBIs in just 50 games with the Phillies.
