NEW YORK -- Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez has a sprained left shoulder and will likely miss a couple of games for surging Florida.
Ramirez returned to Florida for an MRI on Wednesday after injuring his shoulder while diving for a pop fly to shallow left against the New York Mets a night earlier.
The test confirmed the diagnosis made Tuesday during the game.
Marlins manager Jack McKeon said the three-time All-Star is day to day. He will miss the series finale against the Mets on Wednesday night but could return during a four-game set against St. Louis that begins Thursday.
Ramirez, who was on the disabled list earlier this season with a lower back strain, began the night batting .242 with 10 homers and 45 RBIs.
