Angels acquire RHP Pounder from ROyals

The Angels acquired RHP Brooks Pounders from the Royals in exchange for RHP Jared Ruxer, the teams announced Thursday. Pounders, 26, appeared in 13 games for Kansas City this year. LHP Cody Ege was designated for assignment to make room for Pounders on the 40-man roster.

I'm surprised Mike Trout won over Mookie Betts, but the BBWAA certainly selected the AL's BEST player as this year's MVP. Why surprised? Trout not only becomes the first MVP on a losing team since Alex Rodriguez in 2003, but 17 of 20 MVP winners from 2006 to 2015 had played on playoff teams.

Mike Trout is the 6th player to win two MVP awards before his 26th birthday. According to Elias, the players who did that prior to Trout were Hal Newhouser (1944, 1945), Stan Musial (1943, 1946), Mickey Mantle (1956, 1957), Jimmie Foxx (1932, 1933) and Johnny Bench (1970, 1972).
