Make the Marlins a winner? Don't ever doubt Derek Jeter

As a kid, he told his teachers he'd play shortstop for the Yankees. He became their greatest. During his iconic career, he said he'd own a team. Now, the Captain looks to take his magic to Miami.

ESPN Stats and Information

With a homer vs. the Mariners on Wednesday, Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki became the oldest player in MLB history to hit a home run against a team he played 10-plus seasons for. The previous oldest was HOF catcher Carlton Fisk, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. (Photo: Dustin Bradford/Getty Images)

Several of baseball's most prominent sluggers hit long home runs on Wednesday, with the Yankees' Aaron Judge leading the pack. Freddie Freeman's 424-foot blast was his third homer to travel at least 400 feet in six games at his new home park.

ESPN Stats and Information

Marlins DH Giancarlo Stanton launched another tape-measure home run on Wednesday afternoon, off Mariners RHP Felix Hernandez. It was Stanton's fourth of the season.

Was this Ichiro's last appearance in Seattle, where he started his MLB career in 2001 and played until 2012? He is 43 and his Marlins will not return to Seattle for several years. Then again, he could get traded to another team or even back to the Mariners. Asked whether his home run Wednesday was his last at-bat in Seattle, Ichiro said: "I think I will be back whenever that next game is here. I hope to be back.''

This fan caught the ninth inning home run ball Ichiro hit in what was likely his last at-bat in Seattle. He gave the ball to Ichiro in exchange for an autographed bat. Ichiro on the home run: "When I saw the ball go over the fence I had to pinch myself to make sure that that really happened. I'm grateful that happened. ... I will definitely remember this one."

ESPN Stats and Information

Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki hits his first career HR against the Mariners. At age 43, he's the oldest player to homer for the Marlins in franchise history (joins Andre Dawson and Tim Raines as 42+ year olds to HR for them). He's the oldest player to HR since Julio Franco (age 48) in 2007.

How is this for an exit? In probably his last at-bat in Seattle, Ichiro hits a home run. Fans respond by chanting "Eee-Chee-Ro! Eee-Chee-Ro!" for the former Mariner. And most received an Ichiro bobblehead as well this game.

ESPN Stats and Information

Giancarlo Stanton now has as many 440-foot home runs at Safeco Field as Robinson Canó over the last eight seasons (one each). This is Stanton's sixth career game there. Canó is playing his 260th game at Safeco Field since the start of the 2010 season.

ESPN Stats and Information

Giancarlo Stanton's third-inning home run off Félix Hernández was calculated at 448 feet. It is the 42nd time Stanton has hit one at least 440 feet in the majors, 10 more than anyone else in MLB since the start of the 2010 season when Stanton debuted.

ESPN Stats and Information

In Tuesday's no-hit bid, Wei-Yin Chen used his changeup on 14 percent of his pitches for the second time in three starts this season. He threw 93 percent of his changeups in the lower half of the strike zone, resulting in strikes 69 percent of the time . His 12 outs on off-speed pitches tied for his most in a start in the last two seasons.
