Banda to make D-backs debut

The Diamondbacks called up LHP Anthony Banda from Triple-A Reno to make his first major-league start Saturday against the Nationals, optioning down RHP Matt Koch to make room. Banda, the D-backs' No. 1 prospect according to Keith Law, went 7-5 with a 5.08 ERA in 18 starts this season for Reno.

The Arizona Diamondbacks opened the game with three straight home runs off Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer and ended it with Brandon Drury's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 6-5 victory Friday night.

The Diamondbacks started a game with three straight homers for the first time in franchise history as David Peralta, A.J. Pollock and Jake Lamb hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first inning Friday night against the Nationals.

The Diamondbacks are the fifth team in MLB history to hit three straight home runs to begin a game. This is the fifth time in franchise history that Arizona has hit back-to-back-to-back home runs; two of those five instances are against the Nationals/Expos.

Banda to make MLB debut on Saturday

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo announced Friday that LHP Anthony Banda, the No. 1 prospect in Arizona's' farm system, will start for the team on Saturday. Banda is filling in for Taijuan Walker, who is on the paternity list. The 23-year-old is 7-5 with a 5.08 ERA in 18 starts for Triple-A Reno this season.

Lamb, Suarez hit dueling dingers

Jake Lamb and Eugenio Suarez each hit two home runs in their game on Thursday. Although Suarez's first was the longest, Lamb got the last laugh as his pair helped the Diamondbacks beat the Reds 12-2.

With the addition of J.D. Martinez to the active roster, the Diamondbacks have placed outfielder Rey Fuentes on the 10-day disabled list (left thumb contusion).
