Orioles LHP Bleier (shoulder) likely out until '19

The Baltimore Orioles have placed left-handed reliever Richard Bleier on the 10-day disabled list with a shoulder injury. Bleier, who is likely out for the season, is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 31 games, the most appearances on the staff.

From Mexico to Maryland: a baseball love story

One father's ode to rooting for the Orioles, a blessing and a curse that ties together four generations of baseball fans across two countries.

Orioles reliever RIchard Bleier, who exited today's game against the Red Sox unexpectedly, has a lat injury. He's slated for further testing tomorrow to determine the extent. The 29-year old lefty, who was 3-0 with a 1.97 ERA entering today, has arguably been Baltimore's best reliever this year,

Bumpy start for Zach Britton. Making his first apperance of the season after rupturing his Achilles in December, the Orioles reliever walked three of the five Red Sox batters he faced. It's the first time in 246 career relief outings that Britton has issued more than two walks.

Mookie or no Mookie, the Red Sox offense still sputtered. With Mookie Betts back in the lineup after missing 14 games, Boston needed extra innings to get on the board, ulimately scratching out a pair of runs in the 12th for a 2-0 win over the Orioles. Betts went 1-for-5 before being lifted in the 11th inning.

The Red Sox and Orioles are locked up in a rare 0-0 game at Camden Yards, as Brandon Workman fans Trey Mancini with two runners on to end the 10th. There have been just seven extra-inning shutouts in Camden Yards history (including the Red Sox over the Orioles last September in 11 innings).

And then there were eight. Manny Machado is out sick for the Orioles today. It's the first game that Machado's missed all year, leaving eight American Leaguers who've played in every contest this season: Jose Altuve, Matt Chapman, Alcides Escobar, Matt Olson, Kevin Pillar, Eddie Rosario, Kyle Seager, and Mike Trout. Escobar also owns MLB's longest ironman streak: His next game will be his 400th straight.

Zach Britton is expected to be activated today. The Orioles reliever has been out all season after rupturing his Achilles heel in December. A free agent after this season, Britton could be a valuable commodity on the trade market. During a minor-league rehab stint, the veteran lefty pitched to a 1.69 ERA, with six strikeouts and no walks in 5.1 innings.
