Hamilton an unlikely hero for Reds

Billy Hamilton's home run in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Reds a 5-4 win over the Brewers on Monday. Hamilton, whose career home run rate is now one per 115 at-bats, was an unlikely candidate to hit a walk-off homer. Among the more than 500 current big league players who have hit at least one home run in the majors, the only ones with lower lifetime home run rates than Hamilton who have hit walk-off homers in their careers are Eric Young Jr. (one HR every 146 at-bats) and Adeiny Hechavarria (one HR per 128 at-bats), per the Elias Sports Bureau.

Martinez, Gennett take different routes to 4-HR club

J.D. Martinez and Scooter Gennett are among the 18 players in major league history to accomplish the rare feat of a four-homer game. Martinez entered Monday's game vs. the Dodgers with an impressive power-hitting resume. The same can't be said for Gennett ahead of his four-homer game vs. the Cardinals on June 6.
