It was another solid outing for Dodgers RHP Brandon McCarthy, who gave up two runs over seven innings to a Diamondbacks offense that had been red hot. The club's No. 4 starter when the season started, McCarthy has been the best Dodgers pitcher not named Clayton Kershaw. McCarthy and Kershaw are the only Dodgers to have pitched into the seventh inning this year.

It is starting to look more likely that LHP Julio Urias will pitch for the Dodgers this week at San Francisco. Manager Dave Roberts would not confirm such a scenario, but if he moves Kenta Maeda's next start to Friday, somebody will have to pick up a start. Urias is lined up to pitch on Wednesday, although the Dodgers could use him Wednesday or Thursday against the Giants.

Dodgers RHP Kenta Maeda, currently scheduled to pitch Thursday at San Francisco, could have that outing delayed until Friday, manager Dave Roberts said. That would have the struggling pitcher lined up for the opener of a home series against the Phillies.

The Dodgers were manhandled by the Diamondbacks for the second time in two nights. The 11-5 loss came a day after a 13-5 drubbing. Taking it on the chin Saturday was Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda, who gave up four home runs, two more than he had ever given up in a major league game. Maeda's ERA is now a whopping 8.05. David Peralta had a Diamondbacks' record four doubles.

Dodgers RHP Kenta Maeda has given up four HRs to the Diamondbacks in less than 5 IP. The Dodgers need length out of Maeda on Saturday since five relievers saw action Friday. Maeda's ERA has now ballooned to 8.05 this season. The Dodgers trail Arizona 6-2 after losing 13-5 Friday night.

Dodgers LHP Grant Dayton (left intercostal strain) threw a bullpen session and is expected to come off the DL on Friday. LHP Scott Kazmir (left hip strain) also threw a bullpen session, but his return remains unknown.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was coy when asked where LHP Julio Urias might make his next start after throwing 93 pitches and 5.2 IP for AAA Oklahoma City on Friday. Asked if it might be with the Dodgers, Roberts repeated that it would be five innings. One consideration on whether Urias pitches for the Dodgers next is if the bullpen is rested and ready to back him up that day.

Dodgers LHP Rich Hill had a 25-pitch bullpen session, a handful of those without a bandage on his left middle finger, which has been plagued with blister issues. Hill reported no problems, but there remains no timetable on when he might pitch in a game again.

The nine runs the Dodgers allowed in the eighth inning was their most since allowing nine in the seventh inning 8/9/15 at PIT. The five walks in the eight matched their most in an inning going back at least to 1974.

Dodgers reliever Sergio Romo never committed a balk until the one Friday that gave Arizona a run. It was that kind of night for the Dodgers in a 13-5 defeat. His method for coping with a brutal night? Accept it and move on.

After a rough night, when the Dodgers' bullpen gave up nine runs in the eighth inning, manager Dave Roberts deconstructs the meltdown.

Doug Padilla ESPN Staff Writer

The Dodgers endured a half inning of nearly 43 minutes, while the Diamondbacks scored nine times, and they fell 13-5 at Arizona. A normally dependable Dodgers bullpen, that had given up 14 walks this season, walked five in the eighth alone against The Diamondbacks. Corey Seager had three hits, including a mammoth home run, but his effort was swallowed up by the most runs Arizona scored in an inning against the Dodgers ever.
