Stanton impressive vs. Mets this year

Giancarlo Stanton homered and drove in three runs to help the Marlins complete a three-game sweep of the Mets with a 9-2 win on Wednesday. Stanton finished the season with eight home runs and 20 RBIs vs. New York. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, only three other players have had at least eight home runs and 20 RBIs against the Mets in a single season over the last 50 years: Dick Allen in 1968 (10 HR, 25 RBIs), Dave Kingman in 1979 (9 HR, 20 RBIs) and Ryan Howard in 2006 (8 HR, 21 RBIs).

Stanton keeps mashing the Mets

With another homer on Wednesday, Giancarlo Stanton came away with two long balls in the three-game series with the Mets, bringing his career tally against them to 35. Only one player has hit more homers against a single opponent since Stanton entered the league in 2010. Meanwhile, Stanton has been nearly as effective against the Nationals.

After walking Giancarlo Stanton four times on Tuesday, the Mets pitched to him today and the big guy swatted his 56th home run. With 10 games remaining, can Stanton get to 60? Based on his season rate of home runs, he'd hit 3.75 in the Marlins' remaining 10 games. Meanwhile, Aaron Judge slammed his 45th home run as he closes in on Mark McGwire's rookie record of 49 set in 1987. That's eight HR, 19 RBI and 20 runs in September for Judge as he re-ignites his MVP case.
