Jaime García is a low-key addition but one that's a real upgrade to a back-end of a rotation that's been a problem for the team all season. If the Twins, a still-rebuilding team, are to make additions, it should be ones like this one. Prospect Huascar Ynoa was probably on the very bottom of the team's list of Top-25 prospects.

The Twins picked up Jaime Garcia from the Braves in one of those deals that tells the fans you're trying to make the playoffs ... but you're not really going to give up anything of value as you try to make the playoffs. Garcia is a minor upgrade for the rotation, although we'll see how his game translates to the AL. He's been worth 1.1 WAR for the Braves, so projects to add maybe an extra win for the Twins if he pitches well. No harm in dealing a low-level pitching prospect and it makes everyone feel good.
The Atlanta Braves traded left-handed pitcher Jaime Garcia to the Minnesota Twins on Monday for right-handed pitching prospect Huascar Ynoa.

Blue Jays acquire RHP Tepesch
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired RHP Nick Tepesch from the Minnesota Twins on Sunday for cash considerations. Tepesch, 28, made one start for the Twins this season, allowing seven runs (one earned) in 1 2/3 innings. He has posted a 5.59 ERA in six appearances for Triple-A Rochester.
Kyle Gibson took a shutout into the eighth inning in his longest start of the season, Zack Granite had three of the Twins' 14 hits, and the Minnesota Twins held off a late rally to beat the Detroit Tigers 6-5 on Saturday night.

The Atlanta Braves are still talking to multiple teams about southpaw Jaime Garcia, who was nearly acquired by the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.
There are some strong teams fighting for wild-card spots right now, and any one could end the season as a champion.

Another day, another Miguel Sano home run as the Twins continue to surprise. Sano might be the biggest reason. We knew he had big power and would draw walks but he's hitting .272 as well, despite the many strikeouts and low contact rate. There remains some batting average risk but Sano is an excellent long-term power threat, even in an era when everyone's got power, for fantasy owners.
Miguel Sano hit a three-run home run, Jose Berrios went strong into the seventh inning and the Minnesota Twins beat New York 6-1 on Wednesday to win their first home series against the Yankees in nine years.
