Lovullo, Molitor named managers of the year

The Diamondbacks' Torey Lovullo has been named the National League Manager of the Year after leading Arizona to its first postseason appearance since 2011. Twins counterpart Paul Molitor took home the award in the American League.

Buxton wins Platinum Glove

Twins CF Byron Buxton was honored as the American League's top fielder at Friday's Gold Glove ceremony in New York. Buxton is the first Twins player to win a Platinum Glove, an award established in 2011. He also received 2017 Wilson Defensive Player of the Year honors on Friday. Buxton led all center fielders with 24 defensive runs saved last season.

The nine 2017 Gold Glove winners from the American League were announced on Tuesday night. The Twins, Angels and Royals each have two players receiving the honor this year.

Twins CF Byron Buxton wins his first career Gold Glove Award. He joins Kirby Puckett and Torii Hunter as Twins CF to win the award. Buxton's sprint speed (30.2 feet per second, per Statcast) is the fastest of anyone in MLB. He led AL CF in Defensive Runs Saved.

Twins second baseman Brian Dozier won his first career Gold Glove. He's the first Twins 2B to win one since Chuck Knoblauch in 1997. Dozier rated as the best second baseman in baseball at fielding balls hit up the middle. His defensive misplays and errors total at the position was the lowest of his career.

Ex-Twins coach Stelmaszek, 69, dies of cancer

Former Minnesota Twins coach Rick Stelmaszek, who helped the team win two World Series championships, has died of complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 69.

Wade hits first homer in AFL

Twins outfield prospect LaMonte Wade went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the Arizona Fall League on Monday. The ninth-round pick by Minnesota in 2015 spent this past season at Double-A, where he slashed .292/.397/.408 with seven home runs and 67 RBIs.

The "Modern Era" ballot for the Hall of Fame, announced Mon., has Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Marvin Miller, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons, Luis Tiant and Alan Trammell on it. Voting results to be announced Dec. 10.
