Way-too-early 2019-20 MLB free-agent rankings

While this winter's crop searches for new homes, we look ahead to the big decisions that loom for some of the game's top stars -- Nolan Arenado, Chris Sale, Paul Goldschmidt and Gerrit Cole among them.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

The Twins claimed first baseman C.J. Cron on waivers from the Rays, who designed Cron for assignment even after a 30-homer season. Cron, who is expected to receive about $5 million in arbitration, hit .253/.323/.493 for a career-high .816 OPS. Twins first basemen hit .245/.326/.385 and their DHs hit .243/.321/.379, so Cron would be a power upgrade if he can match his 2018 numbers.
