John Jaso entered the Pirates' game against the Mets as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning, and he delivered a run-scoring single that made the score 4-4. It was the fifth game-tying hit in the ninth inning or later in his career, his first since June 2, 2016. In the 10th, with the bases loaded and two outs, Jaso singled in the winning run. It was his third walk-off hit, his first since 2014.

Taillon set for rehab start after cancer surgery

Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon, who had testicular cancer surgery May 8, is slated to start for Double-A Altoona on Sunday as he begins a minor league rehabilitation assignment.

Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen is batting sixth on Friday vs. the Mets. It's the first time in his career that he's hit any lower than cleanup. The veteran has just 11 hits in his last 70 at-bats, dropping his batting average to .203.

Jacob deGrom is 0-2 in his career against the Pirates. The only other NL team he has yet to win a game against is the Dodgers (also 0-2). It's tied for the most losses without a win vs any team in his career.
