In an effort to beef up the left side of their bullpen, the Orioles have acquired southpaw reliever Kyle Lobstein from the Pirates in exchange for minor league hurler Zach Phillips. The 27-year old Lobstein, a former second round pick (Tampa Bay, 2008), is 2-0 with a 3.96 ERA in 14 games with Pittsburgh this season.

Pirates' Cole plays catch day after being put on DL

One day after being placed on the 15-day DL, Pirates ace Gerrit Cole played catch in right field with trainer Todd Tomczyk before Tuesday's game and expressed confidence he'll return this season.

Tigers, Pirates minor leaguers arrested in Ohio

Nova continues hot start with Pirates

Ivan Nova allowed one run over six innings to improve to 4-0 since joining the Pirates in their 3-1 win at Milwaukee on Sunday. Over the last 75 seasons, the only other pitcher to go 4-0 or 5-0 in his first five games with the Pirates was Dave LaPoint (4-0 in 1988), per the Elias Sports Bureau.
