Hot stove stock watch: Padres

With a pre-hot stove win projection of 66.9, everything in San Diego for this offseason hinges on a realistic appraisal of when the system is going to turn the corner at the big-league level.

One key move for the Padres this offseason

The retooling Padres need pitching and can afford to wait. A big arm recovering from Tommy John surgery might be worth the risk.

Law's offseason trade overview: Brad Hand

The Padres should trade Hand now because every contender would be better with the southpaw. San Diego would be justified in demanding a top-100 prospect plus something more in return.

Padres first base prospect Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored during Monday's Arizona Fall League action. The former first-round pick by the Marlins in 2015 slashed .280/.346/.415 with 10 home runs and 64 RBIs at high-A and Double-A this past season.

Way-too-early 2018 Power Rankings: Padres among bottom five

The Padres were a respectable 33-41 in the second half, but there isn't really any star power on the team. Most of the top prospects are in the lower minors, so don't expect much help next year.

Law's AFL scouting notes: Luis Urias looks like real deal

Urias is small but seems to have put on some good weight this season. The hard contact he's been making in Arizona suggests his strong offensive numbers as a 20-year-old at Double-A this year were no fluke.
