Trea Turner is a hit machine

Turner rapped eight straight hits before striking out in the ninth inning on Wednesday. He's the first rookie with eight consecutive hits since Cameron Maybin in 2008, the Elias Sports Bureau reports.

How Youppi!, Habs keep Expos' spirit alive

The Expos are gone but far from forgotten in Montreal, thanks to a strong connection with the Canadiens that includes -- but doesn't end with -- Youppi!, the beloved sport-swapping mascot.

Orioles hold off Nationals (1:00)

Orioles closer Zach Britton just gave up an earned run for the first time since April, as Anthony Rendon doubled in Bryce Harper. Oh by the way, the O's almost blew a 10-3 lead in the ninth. But Britton escaped by getting Ryan Zimmerman on a game-ending DP. Baltimore wins 10-8 and can sweep the Battle of the Beltway with a win over Washington tomorrow.

Daniel Murphy must not like being second-best. On the first day since May 8th that he wasn't leading the NL in hitting (D.J. LeMahieu was), the Nats slugger has gone 3-for-5, including a ninth inning grand slam. Murphy's first career salami, it cuts the O's lead to 10-7.

Ledecky throws first pitch as Harper holds her medals (0:43)

Sellout crowd of 39,100 in DC to watch Nats/Orioles. That's about 50% more than there were at Camden Yards on Tuesday. The eye test (way more orange tonight than red yesterday) says that O's fans take this geographic rivalry way more seriously than Nats fans.

Trea Turner just tallied his 8th straight hit, tying a Nationals record. Not bad for a rookie.

Golden arm: Ledecky hurls 1st pitch at Nats-O's

Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky traded in the pool for the diamond on Wednesday, as she threw out the first pitch at a game between the Nationals and Orioles.

Machado sparks Orioles early

Manny Machado hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI single in the second, as the Orioles have raced out to an early 5-1 lead over the Nationals. Follow live

Here, Bryce, hold these

Olympic swimming star Katie Ledecky threw out the first pitch before Wednesday's Orioles-Nationals game. But before that, she had reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper hold all the medals she won in Rio.

Does Harper have the outfield's best arm?

It doesn't get talked about enough, but Bryce Harper has a powerful and accurate arm in right field. The same can be said for Anthony Rendon at third base. Does Keith Law rank either National No. 1 at their respective positions? Best fielding/throwing tools (Insider)

As a lymphoma survivor, I have to say this is pretty cool: Nats star Bryce Harper talking about the New Era cap he designed to help raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The secret to baseball's best bullpen? Bonding. Here's Nationals relievers Mark Melancon, Shawn Kelley, Yusmeiro Petit, and Oliver Perez (along with catcher Jose Lobaton) getting their soccer sweat on five hours before tonight's Nats/Orioles game in DC. Washington's pen has a 3.19 ERA this season, lowest in the majors.
