Jones-Cormier

MMA

UFC president Dana White tells me UFC is ready to grant Jon Jones a title shot against rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 on July 29. Cormier is willing to fight either Jones or British contender Jimi Manuwa. "If Jon Jones is ready to fight by July 29, we'll see the Jones vs. Cormier rematch, finally," White said. Jones beat Cormier by unanimous decision in a five-round title fight in early 2015. He was stripped of the title later that year due to disciplinary reasons.

UFC light heavyweight Anthony Johnson has formally submitted a written appeal regarding the UFC 210 weigh-in incident involving Daniel Cormier to the New York State Athletic Commission. Johnson maintains Cormier did not actually make weight and should not have been cleared for last weekend's title fight in New York. Per the complaint, Johnson's camp believes Cormier should be fined 20% of his fight purse and be stripped of his UFC title. Cormier submitted Johnson in the second round of their title fight at UFC 210 in Buffalo.
