Cub Swanson announces UFC Fight Night headline fight vs. Brian Ortega

Featherweight contenders Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega will headline UFC Fight Night on Dec. 9 in Fresno, California, Swanson announced Monday on social media.

The televised UFC Fight Night event will take place at Save Mart Center. UFC has not yet formally announced the five-round main event.

Swanson (25-7) is riding a four-fight win streak and has won 10 of his last 12. He called for a title shot following a five-round decision win over Artem Lobov in April. The 33-year-old has never fought for a UFC championship.

Fighting out of Palm Springs, California, Swanson has just the one April performance so far in 2017. He took time off to celebrate the birth of a daughter in August.

Ortega (12-0) is a rising up-and-comer fighting out of Los Angeles. The 26-year-old is 4-0 in UFC, with four finishes. He is coming off a submission win over Renato Carneiro in July.

The UFC featherweight championship is currently held by Max Holloway, who is set to defend the title against No. 1 contender Frankie Edgar at UFC 218 on Dec. 2.
