Erik Koch, Dustin Poirier bout confirmed

In a bout that could have featherweight title implications, contenders Erik Koch and Dustin Poirier agreed to meet at UFC 143, the promotion announced on Tuesday.

UFC 143 is scheduled for Feb. 4 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Koch is 5-1 inside the octagon. In his most recent fight on Sept. 17, he dominated Jonathan Brookins en route to a unanimous decision win.

Koch has a professional mixed martial arts record of 13-1. But as impressive as Koch has looked under the Zuffa banner, he will have his hands full against Poirier.

Since making his 145-pound debut against then-contender Josh Grispi on Jan. 1, Poirier has been unstoppable. He has easily defeated each of his three featherweight opponents.

On Nov. 12, he overwhelmed highly touted Pablo Garza before eventually submitting him with a D'Arce choke at 1:32 of the second round. With that win, Poirer improved to 11-1.
