Anthony Johnson makes weight

Former UFC welterweight contender Anthony Johnson took the final step toward his heavyweight debut after tipping the scale at 230.2 pounds Friday for a World Series of Fighting 2 showdown against hard-hitting Andrei Arlovski.

Johnson (14-4) competed at light heavyweight in his three most recent outings. He struggled regularly to make the 170-pound limit in UFC and was released by that promotion after failing to make weight for a middleweight bout against Vitor Belfort in January 2012.

Belfort defeated Johnson by first-round submission.

Arlovski, a former UFC heavyweight titleholder, has a professional record of 19-9. He has won two bouts in a row and four of his five most recent fights -- the lone blemish was a no-contest against Tim Sylvia in August.

All other fighters on the main card, which takes place Saturday night at Revel Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., made weight.

Co-main event participants Tyson Nam and Marlon Moraes weighed in at 135.2 and 135.5 pounds, respectively, for their bantamweight fight.
