Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira to meet Stefan Struve on Aug. 1 at UFC 190

UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has agreed to meet Stefan Struve on Aug. 1 in what will be the 46th bout of his pro career.

Promotion officials announced the matchup on Tuesday. The bout will take place at UFC 190 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

Nogueira (34-9-1) has not fought since a vicious knockout loss in the first round of a bout against Roy Nelson last April. The 38-year-old has been limited to only three appearances in the last three years due to various injuries.

Since winning a UFC interim heavyweight title in February 2008, Nogueira has gone 3-5 and been finished in all five losses. Fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, he is closing in on 16 years of professional experience.

Struve (25-7) is looking to rebound from back-to-back knockout losses. He missed the majority of the last two years dealing with a bicuspid aortic valve -- a heart disorder that disrupts blood flow. His return from the condition was delayed in July, when he fainted in the locker room ahead of a scheduled fight against Matt Mitrione at UFC 175. He eventually returned in December and suffered a first-round knockout loss to Alistair Overeem.

A female bantamweight title fight between Ronda Rousey (11-0) and Bethe Correia (9-0) will headline UFC 190. In addition, Nogueira's twin brother, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (21-6) is scheduled to fight Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (22-10).
