Joseph and Gino Saracho charged with felony assault

WHITTIER, Calif. -- Two brothers were charged with felony assault Monday after they were accused of participating in a brawl after a youth football game in a Los Angeles suburb.

Joseph Saracho, 32, and Gino Saracho, 25, are accused of kicking a man in the head repeatedly during an Oct. 12 fight between parents at a San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football Conference game. Teams from Pico Rivera and Downey had just played.

The victim, Desi Tubbs, was not hospitalized.

The elder Saracho also allegedly punched to the ground a 67-year-old Downey assistant coach who had been trying to break up the fight, prosecutors said.

Joseph Saracho could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison if convicted of the charges against him. Gino Saracho faces one fewer count than his brother and could get a four-year sentence.

The brothers were arrested last Thursday after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reviewed a videotape of the fight made by a bystander. Investigators continue to seek a third man allegedly involved in the melee.
