Jeff Hornacek, lifelong Cubs fan, hopes his Knicks can take something from what his favorite baseball team's done: "You just wish you could take...the confidence and the togetherness they have, you just want your own team to see that stuff and say, ‘Hey, look, this is what we can do.'?"

From Jrue Holiday's agent, Jason Glushon Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and support for Lauren and Jrue Holiday over the last several months. I'd like to provide you with a quick update on what has happened over the last several weeks. In September, Lauren Holiday gave birth to Jrue Tyler Holiday. She weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. She is healthy and at home with her family. In October, Lauren Holiday underwent surgery at Duke University Hospital to remove a brain tumor. She will continue to recover in North Carolina with her husband Jrue and daughter Jrue Tyler. During this time, we ask that you respect the family's privacy and keep them in your thoughts and prayers."

It appears the Rockets will miss guard Patrick Beverley (knee injury) and power forward Donatas Motiejunas (contract dispute) to start the season. Beverley is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and will be gone four-to-six weeks. Motiejunas hasn't signed his $4.4 million qualifying offer and it's expired. If he does sign a contract before the final cuts are announced on Monday, it's doubtful he'll be ready for Wednesday's opener at the Lakers. "Taking two guys who can play 60 minutes, 30 each, who aren't here, it's going to have an impact," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Draymond Green on being portrayed as villains: "If we're winning games or not winning games, that's what matters. So, I don't think this team is looking, 'Hey, villains, let's do it.' Nobody cares."

When Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni was asked what did he get out of the fan fest scrimmage on Sunday, he joked, "Nothing." The starters won the game on a Clint Capela tip-in at the buzzer.

Kristaps Porzingis was working on pick-and-pops with an assistant coach after practice. You can expect more of that in season. "Coach came up to us and said he wants us to work on that a little bit more because we're going to be in those situations," Porzingis said.
