The Grizzlies are expected to keep Troy Williams with their final roster spot and waive 2014 first-round pick Jordan Adams, who has been limited to 32 games in two seasons due to injuries. Adams is recovering from summer knee surgery and isn't likely to be cleared to play for several weeks. "I can assure you that the only issue is he's not healthy," said agent Wallace Prather, who represents Adams. "He'll be healthy soon enough and he'll be back." Williams, an undrafted rookie out of Indiana, took advantage of an opportunity created by injuries to starting wings Chandler Parsons and Tony Allen among others, averaging 13.2 points on 52.1 percent shooting while leading Memphis in minutes during the preseason.

A source said C Jaleel Cousins, DeMarcus' younger brother, is expected to join the D-League Texas Legends if he clears waivers following his release from the Mavs. All of the Mavs' cuts are open to joining the team's D-League affiliate with the exception of G Kyle Collinsworth, who plans to play overseas. However, there is a decent possibility that final cut Jonathan Gibson gets claimed by another NBA team.

The Mavs decided to give undrafted rookie F Dorian Finney-Smith their final roster spot, a source said. GJonathan Gibson, whose minimum salary is guaranteed, will be released. The Mavs opted to go with upside by keeping Finney-Smith and wing Nicolas Brussino, both 23, over summer league scoring sensation Gibson, who turns 29 next month.

F Troy Williams, who had an impressive preseason, is receiving serious consideration to make the Grizzlies' roster. If Williams makes it, Memphis must cut a player with a guaranteed contract.
