Early entry candidate for the 2000 Draft after one season at Florida. Helped Gators to 2000 NCAA Championship Game. Was considered by many recruiting services to be the nation's No. 1 high school player as a senior at Randolph Clay H.S. in Cuthbert, GA. Was chosen as the 1999 Naismith Prep Basketball Player of the Year and the USA Today Prep Basketball Player of the Year. Was also selected as a McDonald's All-American. Finished his high school career with 1,736 points, 1,334 rebounds, 319 blocks and 289 assists. Team went 95-20 during his career.

One of five players named to Basketball News All-Freshmen Team. Was named to the SEC All-Freshmen Team by the coaches. Led the Gators in rebounding (7.0 rpg) and finished third in scoring (10.1 ppg) despite playing just 20.2 minutes per game. His 258 total rebounds set a Florida freshmen record. Became just the fifth freshmen at Florida to lead the team in rebounding. Led Florida in rebounding in 19 of 37 games. Also led the Gators in dunks (36) and double-doubles (6). Appeared in all 37 games and made nine starts. Had 21 double figure scoring games and led the team in scoring in four contests. Led team in scoring at home (12.9 ppg). Also averaged 8.7 rpg at home. Shot .627 (32-for-51) during a six-game stretch in December. Grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds vs. High Point. Had first career double-double vs. New Hampshire. Averaged 13.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg in the SEC Tournament. Scored a career-high 22 points against VMI.
