Dwight Powell has had his highest-scoring outings of the season in the Mavs' last two games: 17 in a win over the Bulls and 15 in a loss to the Hornets, going 7-of-11 from the floor both nights. Powell has had some spectacular lob finishes, benefiting from guards Deron Williams and Devin Harris returning from injuries. Powell will get plenty of opportunity as Andrew Bogut recovers from his knee injury.

Rick Carlisle: Mavs getting outrebounded by 20 by Hornets "shouldn't happen. That points to effort, which I don't like to say about this team, but I've got to look at it. We'll see. That's not good." It didn't help that Andrew Bogut (6 rebounds in 11 minutes) got hurt late in the first quarter.
