Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said he expects guard Pat Beverley to miss at least 20 games with a left knee injury. His absence "complicates" some roster spots.

Bryn Forbes looks like the leader in the clubhouse among the 5 players vying for the final roster spot. He scored a team-high 19 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter. He knocked down 4 of 5 from deep. I'm told the Spurs will go with the full 15 on the roster.

Rockets conclude the preseason with a 5-2 mark following a 114-99 loss to the Spurs. Bobby Brown, a man James Harden asked GM Daryl Morey to give a chance to make the roster, led Houston with 23 points on 8 of 20 shooting from the floor. Nene played well and might have solidify the starting center spot with 15 points while making seven of eight shots. James Harden, Trevor Ariza, Clint Capela and Eric Gordon didn't make the trip to San Antonio.

Kawhi Leonard's pretty much primed for the regular season. In 10 minutes, he scored 7 points on 3-of-4 shooting to go with 3 rebounds, a steal and an assist. Looks fresh and ready to roll.

Chandler Parsons fully participated in the Grizzlies' last two practices but has yet to be cleared for game action. "No problems at all with the knee," he told ESPN in a text message. Parsons hopes to play in Memphis' opener, but he understands that the Grizzlies will take a cautious approach in his return from the second surgery on his right knee in two years.

Celtics announce they've signed forward Ryan Kelly. Would seem to be D-League candidate given overstocked roster.

The Rockets have a unique way of identifying their rookies on the nameplates in the locker room: 21 Rook #1, 0 Rook #2 and 30 Rook #3. No. 21 is first-round pick Chinanu Onuaku, No. 0 is Gary Payton II and No. 30 is Kyle Wiltjer. Outside of Onuaku, who will make the team, Payton and Wiltjer are fighting for roster spots.

Rockets starters for the Spurs game: Tyler Ennis, KJ McDaniels, Corey Brewer, Ryan Anderson and Nene.
