Los Angeles Lakers: Forward Lamar Odom
was diagnosed Monday with a small tear and a rotator cuff contusion
in his left shoulder.
Odom, who did not accompany the Lakers on their road trip, was
examined Monday by team doctor Steve Lombardo and shoulder
specialist Dr. James Tibone. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday and
is considered day-to-day, the team said.
The Lakers play at Utah on Tuesday and at Denver on Thursday.
Odom was hurt during the first half against Indiana on Friday
night. He leads the team in rebounds (10.2) and is averaging 15.2
points, 3.7 assists and 1.02 blocks in 36.3 minutes.
The 6-foot-8 rookie from Duke missed 10 games with a right ankle
sprain. He has started 45 games this season and is averaging 12.2
points and 5.4 rebounds.
The Bulls placed rookie center Jared Reiner on the injured list
with a left hip flexor strain. He is averaging 1.2 points and 1.8
rebounds in 11 games.
Billups averaged 25.5 points and 6.3 as the Pistons went 4-0 to
move 7½ games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Central
Division. The 28-year-old Billups matched his season high with 32 points,
including a career-high 15 free throws, in a 102-95 victory over
the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday.
He had 23 points, six rebounds and eight assists in a 103-92 win
over the Toronto Raptors two nights later before completing the
week with 25 points in a 110-101 victory over the San Antonio
Spurs on Sunday.
Guard-forward Jason Richardson received Western Conference
Player of the Week honors after averaging 24 points, 10.3
rebounds and 4.7 assists, leading the Golden State Warriors to
two wins in three games.
In a 100-97 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday,
Richardson scored 40 points - two shy of his career best - on
