Report: Padgett to sign one-year contract with Rockets

HOUSTON -- Free agent small forward Scott Padgett plans to
rejoin the Houston Rockets in a one-year contract, according to a
broadcast report.

Houston television KRIV reported Saturday that Padgett would
sign with the team on Sunday. Details weren't disclosed.

"I have agreed to a one year non-guaranteed contract. It's a
tough situation, I know that. But, I think there are some things I
can bring to the table that can help the Rockets," he told the

A telephone message left by The Associated Press with a Rockets
spokesman wasn't immediately returned Saturday.

The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Padgett played with the Utah Jazz for
four seasons before signing with the Rockets in 2003 as a backup.
He signed with the New Jersey Nets in 2005 but was waived from the
club in June.

He averaged 3.4 points per game last season.
