Warriors' Richardson sits out with knee stiffness

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Guard Jason Richardson sat out of the
Golden State Warriors' game against New Orleans on Thursday night
after developing stiffness in his surgically repaired left knee.

Richardson, the Warriors' leading scorer last season, had
surgery before training camp, but returned to the lineup for the
regular season. Fluid built up in his knee during the Warriors'
flight home from Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, making his knee
too stiff to play.

Richardson averaged 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds while starting
each of the Warriors' first five games. Monta Ellis replaced him in
the starting lineup against the Hornets as Golden State opened a
seven-game homestand. He had 21 points as the Warriors handed the Hornets their first loss of the season.
