SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Geoff Petrie has agreed to a contact extension to remain president of basketball operations for the Sacramento Kings.
The team has called a news conference for Tuesday to announce the deal. Petrie is in the final year of his current contract.
Petrie joined the Kings in 1994 and built a perennial playoff contender. Sacramento made it to the conference finals in 2002 before slipping the past few years. The Kings had the NBA's worst record a year ago, but have bounced back this season behind rookie Tyreke Evans.
