EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Just when the Lakers seemed to be getting back on track with four straight wins following a dreadful 0-3 road trip, two-fifths of the starting lineup did not practice Thursday.
"[Fisher] took the brunt of a heavy situation and landed on it, Pau's got swollen tonsils," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said.
Gasol will be a game-time decision on Friday when the Lakers host the Timberwolves. Fisher said he will be ready to play. He has played in 399 straight games, the league's second-longest streak.
A reporter jokingly asked Jackson if Gasol's affliction had anything to do with the big man getting his braces removed last week.
"I don't know what that's related to," Jackson said with a smile, "But I won't go there."
