Cavs hold out Baron Davis vs. Spurs

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers guards Baron Davis and Daniel Gibson missed Wednesday night's game against San Antonio.

Coach Byron Scott wanted Davis, acquired Feb. 24 from the Los Angeles Clippers, to get at least one more practice with the team before playing in a game. The guard, who practiced Monday and Tuesday, is expected to play Friday against New York or Sunday against New Orleans.

Davis has been bothered all season by a sore left knee, but Scott said the lack of practice time is the reason he has yet to make his debut with the Cavaliers.

Gibson was out with a quad injury. The injury has bothered Gibson before this season, but he wasn't listed on the pregame injury report.

Both teams were short-handed going into the game. San Antonio guard Tony Parker is out for two to four weeks with a calf injury. Cleveland forward Antawn Jamison likely will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on a broken little finger on his left hand.
