Western Conference consolidates power; East dominates bottom of charts

No change at the top of ESPN.com's NBA Power Rankings. Just more evidence to suggest that the gulf between conferences might be wider than ever, with only three East teams claiming spots in my top 15.


It's tough to expect otherwise when what's looking like the weakest East in history, in head-to-head games against the West, checks in at 18-49 through Sunday's games. Which computes to a winning percentage of .269.

Utah, Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix and Houston -- my top five, in that order -- are a combined 20-4 against East opposition.
