Power Rankings: Boston clings to the top spot

The New Orleans Hornets are unreservedly buzzing. They're 7-1 in 2008 as part of a 12-2 surge that features seven consecutive victories on the road, six of them coming against Western Conference opposition.

But No. 2 is as high as the Hornets can go in ESPN.com's weekly NBA Power Rankings.

We're simply not ready to drop Boston even after its back-to-back setbacks to Washington and all the Boston-bashing that followed. Not when the Celts responded to those defeats by beating the Cinderellas from Portland. Not when they remain on a healthy 69-13 pace. Especially not when injuries (Lakers) or midseason drudgery (Detroit and San Antonio) have other top teams sliding and when no other team in the league, including New Orleans, has fewer than 12 losses to Boston's six.

Rank the teams yourself or click here or at the bottom to register your approval or disagreement with the order at the top or anywhere else.
