Sweep the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics, and you build some equity with the committee (of one).

The Los Angeles Lakers have thus clung to the top spot in the human sector of ESPN.com's NBA Power Rankings despite back-to-back weekend road losses in Denver and Phoenix.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are gaining, though. Only a heavy loss at Houston prevented the Cavs from an unexpected quick return to No. 1 when the Lakers followed up a fairly defensible loss to the Nuggets with Sunday's disappointing defeat by the short-handed Suns.
