Sometimes you don't do anything to deserve a drop in the NBA Power Rankings. Sometimes you just get leapfrogged.

This is one of those times for the Los Angeles Lakers, who pushed their record to a spotless 5-0 with two more routs this past week, only for the Boston Celtics to leave us no choice and reclaim the top spot in ESPN.com's weekly, fully unautomated pulse check of the league with two irresistible road wins. Boston's conquests in Houston and Detroit, as part of an equally impressive 6-1 start, nudged the Celts past L.A. in the newsiest upward move of the week.

Also notable: Atlanta has deservedly gate-crashed the top five with its first 5-0 start in a decade … while two traditional powers from Texas -- Dallas and injury-ravaged San Antonio -- have reached depths they haven't seen since the 20th century.
