Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas (groin strain) has been formally ruled out for Sunday's game against the Thunder. Thomas did not travel with the team Saturday to Oklahoma City. Thomas said Friday that he's hopeful he can join the team before Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs but team decision-makers have urged him not to rush his return.

The Pelicans officially announce the signing of Reggie Williams. Williams, 30, has had six stints in the NBA since 2009-10 -- with the Warriors, then-Bobcats, Thunder and Spurs -- and most recently played 10 games for the Oklahoma City Blue of the D-League. The Pelicans waived Anthony Brown on Friday after nine games with the team.

Fred Hoiberg says it's still unclear when Michael Carter-Williams will return. Asked whether the end of the month is a possibility, Hoiberg said it was still to early to say because they want to see how MCW is feeling after his soft cast comes off.

Russell Westbrook's next game is against the Celtics on Sunday. Boston hasn't allowed a triple-double since John Wall had one on Jan. 22, 2014 (225 games). That's the longest active streak in the league without allowing a triple-double, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

For the second consecutive year, the NBPA is having a heart screening of former players at the Toyota Center today. Doctors will be on hand to provide heart screenings, blood work among other things for former players. Matt Bullard, a former Rocket, who does color on the local broadcast, plans on attending. "It's very important," Bullard said. "As we get older we start to have a few more health issues. When we were playing, we were as healthy as we could be. As you get older the health issues start to pile up."

Corey Brewer is sponsoring a food and services distribution with Feed the Children for more than 400 families today in Houston. The Rockets forward said he did something similar when he played in Minnesota. The families will receive a 25-pound box of food, 10-pound box of personal care items, Avon products, children's books by Disney and Lego toys. "We wanted to help as many families as we could," Brewer said. "All over Houston."
