Something to watch: Russell Westbrook ran to the locker room during pregame warmups and was not on the floor during the national anthem, coming back out with his left thumb taped up. It appears to be bothering him some, with him grimacing at times, but after Billy Donovan asked him if he was OK, Westbrook quickly said, "I'm good."

Hard cap and luxury tax restrictions will present a challenge for New Orleans with the $2.75M Alexis Ajinca Disability Player Exception. The Pelicans are $706K below the tax and $1.29M below the hard cap. New Orleans would need to clear salary and a roster spot to use.

Here's Frank Ntilikina after his 10-point, 10-assist, 7-rebound game against Brooklyn on Monday: "My last two games were not that good so I learned about it. I was like let's go, stop thinking about it. I was thinking too much in these games. I just said let's go, let's bring what I can to the team." Richie Felder, one of Ntilikina's representatives at CAA, had a two-hour breakfast with the rookie point guard before the game. Felder talked to Ntilikina about being aggressive and leaving the first half of the season behind him. That message seemed to resonate. "It's time," Ntilikina said after the Nets game. "I know it's about time especially I have to go out there and be confident and be aggressive. I won't relax now. I'm just motivated to do more in the future." The Knicks will need more from Ntilikina and guard Trey Burke during a grueling 6-game road trip, which may define their season.

Monday night was an eventful one for the LA Clippers. But Wesley Johnson and Tyrone Wallace are focusing on bringing that same energy level for another nationally televised home game; this time against the Denver Nuggets, a team that offensive rebounds well and has featured Will Barton in a starter's role.

A season riddled with injuries still has Kawhi Leonard eligible for a super max extension this summer even if he does not earn All-NBA status during the 2017-18 season. Leonard is eligible based on earning All-NBA in 2015-16 and 2016-17. Leonard, who will turn 27 in June, is eligible for a five-year $219M extension with a starting salary of $37.8M in 2019-20. San Antonio can bypass extension talks this summer and wait until Leonard is a possible free agent in 2019. However, Leonard would have to earn All-NBA during the 2018-19 season to become super max eligible. Leonard is under contract next season at $20.1M and has a player option of $21.3M in 2019-20.
