The Timberwolves have hired Scott Roth, who tutored Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez in Europe, as a pro scout. Roth, who coached Porzingis and Hernangomez in Spain, is well know and respected overseas. He also coached 11 seasons in the NBA and on four national teams. Seems like a great add to the Timberwolves' Pro Scouting department.

After announcing James Harden will become the full-time point guard this upcoming season, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said Tuesday Patrick Beverley will remain in the starting lineup. Beverley will move from point guard to shooting guard. The Rockets like to have either a strong defender or shooter who can create alongside Harden. In some situations, Eric Gordon will pair up with Harden. But at the start of games, Harden and Beverley will be on the court. "Oh yeah Pat can play off the ball and on the ball," D'Antoni said. "He's a great defensive player there's a lot of spots he can play."

The Houston Rockets have higher expectations for this upcoming season. The Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas had the Rockets' odds for wins at 41 ½. While not being told of what the odds are, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni embraces a high win total. "When we got (Steve) Nash (in Phoenix) they picked us, maybe to make the eighth spot and we won 62 games, so you never know," D'Antoni said of the 2004-05 season. "We're shooting for the 62. We're not shooting for the eighth spot, if that's as good as we are then that's as good as we are. I think we're better than that. You could say we're in the middle but I think we're better than that."
