Mavs reserve PG J.J. Barea is having a career year at age 33, averaging 12.2 points and 5.4 assists. "I feel great, man," Barea said after a 16-point, six-rebound, six-assist performance in Tuesday's win over the Spurs. "My body feels really good, and I'm way smarter than I used to be. I know the game better now."

Kristaps Porzingis was asked about being the first player in NBA history to have at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks and 5 made 3-pointers in a game. He said it's an "honor" but "that doesn't help us make the playoffs."

Some have questioned the Ball family's decision to send LiAngelo and LaMelo to Lithuania to begin their pro careers. LaVar Ball told me tonight he's looking forward to seeing the "smiles on my sons' faces at the fact they're playing basketball competitively again." He added, "My boys are going over there to have fun, change the culture. Now young cats is coming to the game. That's all we're going over there to do, man: play."

Noted Dallas Cowboys supporter LeBron James thinks that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, even with a season-ending ACL tear this weekend, could end up being named NFL MVP this season. "It sucks," James said of Wentz -- one of the players he identified as his favorites last month. "Injuries is part of the game, but this year it's been a little wacky. I don't know what it is. I was actually watching the game when it happened and when I seen the hit happen, I was like, ‘Oh that didn't look good.' And then when he threw the touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery, he didn't even get turned all the way around. He kind of side threw it like Bernie Kosar used to throw. I was like, ‘Something is wrong with his knee.' And I was praying for the best and unfortunately, obviously, an MVP season hopefully it doesn't affect it. Obviously you've got Tom Brady up there as well. But he's the MVP of the league so far with what he's been doing as a quarterback and the success of their team. Like I told you, besides Julio (Jones), AB (Antonio Brown) and Tom Brady, Carson has been my favorite player to watch right now. It's unfortunate that two of the brighter stars in the NFL, him and Deshaun (Watson), lose their season over injuries."

He's not on the court, but Kawhi Leonard is definitely staying engaged.

Kristaps Porzingis is the first Knick with 35 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks in a game since Patrick Ewing in 1996. Patrick never hit 5 threes in one of those games though. Per Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders, Porzingis is the first player in NBA history to have that combination with 5 made threes.

Been a while since I watched Porzingis and he is whiny about fouls these days
