Mavs coach Rick Carlisle indicated that Dirk Nowitzki, already ruled out of Saturday's game against the Bulls, is likely to miss at least one additional game due to lingering soreness in his right Achilles' tendon. "Dirk's situation is improving, but he is really out indefinitely," Carlisle said during his weekly appearance on 103.3 FM ESPN. Nowitzki has played in only five games for the 3-15 Mavs this season.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he didn't mind that his team chucked a season-high 42 3-pointers in Wednesday's loss to the Pistons: "At the end of the day, we want layups. If we don't get layups, we want the floor to be shrunk ... Hey, we're not a team that gets to the foul line a lot, we're not a team that rebounds at a high rate, and we haven't scored it in transition, so to be able to be sitting where we are, offensively, I think a big reason is because we space the floor."

Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah will be out tonight, per Jeff Hornacek. Kyle O'Quinn will start at center. Unclear who plays at shooting guard in place of Lee. Also, Lance Thomas will dress. Thomas has been out since Nov. 12 due to ankle injuries.

Someone else, or something else, is here awaiting LeBron James' arrival

Faux LeBron checking out shootaround. The REAL LeBron--in Cubs uniform--will be arriving any minute to pay off his World Series bet with Dwyane Wade.

Dave McMenamin ESPN Staff Writer

There is a crowd of about 50 reporters, cameramen awaiting LeBron James' arrival in the tunnel. Never seen anything like this. Not even for Finals games.
