Curry somehow sinks ridiculous and-1

After Steph Curry is fouled on a steal attempt, he tosses up a super-high righty floater that drops through the net against the Jazz.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said when they first brought in Kawhi Leonard, they wanted him to study Michael Jordan: "One of the first things we did when he came really was we got him Michael Jordan clips. Not to watch Michael's amazing ability, but his fundamental sense of the game. He never really got credit for that because he's an amazing athlete. He can do this, he can jump, he learned how to shoot better. His fundamentals were magnificent; the way he posted, the way he pivoted, inside pivot, outside pivot, his rocker step, his ability to pump fake, to move…he was brilliant in his fundamentals, and it made him great along with his ability. Kobe [Bryant] was a bit like that too. Kobe has great footwork with everything he did, and I wanted Kawhi to see that. So he spent a lot of time trying to mimic that, and he's done a good job of it. He's got a great work ethic. Chad Forcier, who's with Orlando now and Chip Engelland were paramount in his improvement."

For the fourth time this season, Marc Gasol has made at least three 3-pointers in a game. He had never made more than three 3s in a season before this year. His success from long range, where Gasol was shooting 42.3 percent entering tonight, is a major reason the Grizzlies big man is averaging a career-best 19.2 points per game.

Rajon Rondo was suspended for Monday's game because of a verbal altercation with assistant coach Jim Boylen. Several reports said Rondo threw a towel in Boylen's face, but Rondo wouldn't confirm that detail. Boylen used to serve on Gregg Popovich's staff in San Antonio. Before Thursday's game between the Bulls and Spurs, Popovich was asked if he'd ever take a chance on a great player who had an attitude problem. "As long as he promised ahead of time not to throw a towel at me," Popovich said.

Comic relief of the night: Pau Gasol just tried to go to the wrong locker room. Nah bruh, you're a Spur now.

In a microcosm of their season, the Wizards' scoreboards aren't working, so the PA announcer at Verizon Center is having to announce the score after every basket. The Wizards haven't given him much to do; they trail the Nuggets 20-8 late in the first quarter.

During the first timeout of the first quarter, the Raptors played a video tribute to DeMar DeRozan, who became the franchise's all-time leader in games played. Tonight is DeRozan's 543rd career game (all with the Raptors), one more than Morris Peterson played in a Toronto uniform.

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas (groin strain) declared himself out for Friday's game against the Toronto Raptors. Speaking to reporters at a community event on Thursday, Thomas said: "I won't be playing [Friday]. But [his Celtics teammates will] be ready. I'm going to do whatever I can to get back out there on the court. It's eating me alive to not be able to participate, not to be able to play, but I gotta be smart about this because i don't want this to linger on for the rest of the season."
