The Boston Celtics announced Friday that they will retire Paul Pierce's No. 34 after a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Feb. 11, 2018. Pierce's 34 will be the 22nd number retired by the Celtics and first since Cedric Maxwell's No. 31 was retired in December 2003.

The expectation last month was that the Knicks would leave one two-way deal open for training camp. If that's still the case, Jamel Artis, Nigel Hayes and Xavier Rathan-Mayes will be among those players competing for it. Once Artis and Hayes sign, the Knicks will have 18 players under contract, 14 of which are on guaranteed contracts. Teams can carry 20 players under contract in the offseason and 17 (including 2 two-way players) during the season.

The NBPA announced its Players Voice Awards on Friday, and three San Antonio Spurs received honors highlighted by Kawhi Leonard, who won Best Defender. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was named Coach You'd Most Like to Play for, while veteran guard Manu Ginobili 2017 Teammate of the Year by his San Antonio teammates.

Knicks have reached an agreement with Pittsburgh's Jamel Artis, league sources tell ESPN. Artis impressed the club during Summer League.

Boston Celtics co-owner owner Steve Pagliuca said Thursday that the team will retire Paul Pierce's No. 34 jersey this season. The Celtics plan to announce their plans soon with fans eager to purchase tickets to the game where Pierce's number heads to the rafters.
