Enes Kanter says Joakim Noah has been helping him on the defensive end. "He's always talking to me. He actually told me a week ago that, ‘I want you to take the next step. I want you to get to the next level defensively.' And he's been there for me, helping me a lot defensively, talking to me on the court, off the court. He's been really trying to help me. And he's one of the most respected guys in the NBA. He's got 11 years in the league. He knows a lot. He's got a lot of experience so I can really use his help." Kanter is a strong offensive player but has been subpar on the defensive end thus far in his career. Noah, who is suspended for the first 12 games of the season, has said that he hopes to help younger bigs on the Knicks roster.

The team suspension of Bobby Portis Jr. has different ramifications with regards to the Bulls roster. Portis Jr. will be moved from the active/inactive list to the suspended list after the Bulls third game, October 24 at Cleveland. A suspension by the NBA would have resulted in Portis Jr. remaining on the active/inactive list for 5 games and moving to suspended list after the Oklahoma City game on October 28. The Bulls can sign a player while Portis Jr. is on the suspended list.

Keep an eye on October 25. Chicago would be eligible for roster relief and apply for the hardship exception. The exception is granted if a team has four players that have missed at least three regular season games with an injury. The Bulls with 15 contracts would be granted a roster spot. Chicago could also start the 45 day clock on one of their two-way contracts, Ryan Arcidiacono or Antonio Blakeney.
