Jeff Hornacek on one of biggest differences on offense between last season and this season: "I think it's probably more ball movement and body movement. This group of guys, there are some really good guys who cut off the ball," he said, mentioning Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. as strong cutters. "We're not standing around as much, having one guy just go to it. We have to be careful that, sometimes when KP gets the ball in there that we're not all just standing there, watching. We're trying to work on that of cutting from the weak side and keeping constant movement so teams can't double him."

Damyean Dotson had 23 points, 6 rebounds and three assists in the G League on Sunday for Westchester. He's back with the Knicks' big club on Monday for its game against the Clippers. It's a transition Dotson has made a few times this season, and it's one he takes seriously and uses to his advantage. If he's on the bench during a Knicks game, Dotson says he's focused on studying how Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee perform in the Knicks' offensive and defensive schemes. He then applies that to his games in Westchester, which he says has helped his development significantly. Dotson's professional approach to his D League appearances is one of the reasons why Knicks coaches and management are excited about the second-round pick. Also, no matter if he's with the Knicks' NBA team or the G League club, Dotson has the same pre-game routine: praying for the health of all players involved, and praying for a victory.

Ty Lue said something at Monday's shootaround that should make some Cavs fans happy. With four rotation players out, he's going to give the rookie a shot: "Cedi (Osman)," Lue said when asked who in his lineup will get more playing time other than Jose Calderon. "If we add a second guy it'd be Cedi."

LeBron James reflected on the playoff battles with the Detroit Pistons early in his career at shootaround ahead of the Cavs' game against Detroit on Monday: "It helped me out with my development, with my mental side of the game as well. Worked my mental toughness, my physical toughness, my competitive nature, going against those teams. Understanding what you need in order to be successful, or how to win, how to compete. They definitely have a chapter in my book."
