Cleveland has been in control most of the night but its lead is just 71-67 heading into the 4th Q. Been a bit of an off night for LeBron James (5-of-13 shooting and 5 turnovers) and TOR is owning the glass 37-29 so far.

When he was asked if missing out on an All-Star starting nod and a spot on the three All-NBA teams last season provided any extra motivation coming into this season, Anthony Davis told the ESPN game crew, "It did, especially when you lose out on $24 million. That's kinda tough. ... I can only worry about what I can do this year so that there's no debate whether I'm on the first (All-NBA) team or an All-Star."

J.R. Smith gets the steal and then takes it the rest of the way for the dunk. The Cavaliers led the Raptors 50-40 at the half (on ESPN).

The Cavs Are at it again

The Cavaliers get fancy on back-to-back possessions, with Kyrie Irving hitting a step-back 3-pointer and LeBron James feeding it to Tristan Thompson for a slam. They lead the Raptors 28-23 after one quarter (on ESPN).

Cavs went with a funky Kevin Love-Mike Dunleavy-Tristan Thompson-Iman Shumpert-Richard Jefferson lineup to finish the second quarter. It got Love a lot of looks on offense, which is part of the hope, but it also exposed Shumpert at PG who had a sloppy turnover at the top of the key trying to make a basic initiation pass.

Houston turned the ball over 15 times in the season opening loss to the Lakers and coach Mike D'Antoni attributed that to the bench. Backup guard Tyler Ennis had four turnovers in the Lakers' game. "Pretty much I thought the bench turned it over a little bit," D'Antoni said. "We got to cut that down. The bench has to do a better job with that and we can do better, we had about 15 we'd like to have 12."

Calvin Watkins ESPN Staff Writer

Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said things won't change much for his team with the Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki out with an illness. "Losing one of the best players ever," D'Antoni said. "You hate it for him. It doesn't change anything, they got a lot of players, somebody else will step up. (JJ) Barea worries me too and Harrison Barnes. They got a lot of answers we just have to play our game and play well."
