Bulls defense was porous throughout the night and it cost them in the end. Dwyane Wade finishes the game with 34 points but he played 36 minutes. It will be interesting to see if Wade plays in Detroit on Tuesday on second night of back to back.

DeAndre Liggins, who Ty Lue said he could possibly start in J.R. Smith's place as to not disturb his bench, said Monday's game was an example of staying ready. "I can sit 10 games, I'm going to be ready to play in the 11th," Liggins said.

Houston's Eric Gordon left the game with Boston with 5.2 seconds left with a right ankle injury. He slowly walked off the court after being down for a few moments. Gordon finished with 19 points on 6-11 shooting off the bench.

The Celtics have been desperately seeking that first defining victory of the 2016-17 season and it slipped away again Monday in Houston. Boston rallied multiple times from double-digit deficits then nearly stole the game late. Alas, layup attempts by both Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford were a little too strong as the Rockets hung on for a 107-106 triumph.

Al Horford missed a game-winning layup as time expired as Houston held on to defeat Boston, 107-106. James Harden finished with 37 points but his offensive foul, an elbow to the chin of Marcus Smart, gave the Celtics life where they failed to close the deal after two of Smart's foul shots cut the deficit to one. Isaiah Thomas led Boston with 20.

Mark Cuban had an animated, cross-court discussion with ref Derrick Stafford during the timeout. Neither appeared to change their mind about the foul call that sent Charlotte's Marco Belinelli to the line for three shots.

ESPN Stats and Information

James Harden is 18-18 from the free throw line against the Celtics. No player has made that many free throws without a miss against the Celtics in a game since the NBA-ABA merger.
