Wizards at Celtics, 1 ET (Game 1) - Split season series 2-2 (home team won all 4 games)

ESPN Stats and Information

The Celtics and Wizards split their regular season series as the home team won every game. Fewer than 10 points decided each of the two contests in Boston, while the pair of games in Washington were not as close.

ESPN Stats and Information

While Wizards PG John Wall struggled during the regular season against the Celtics (17.8 PPG, his lowest average vs. an Eastern Conference opponent), SG Bradley Beal was able to help pick up the slack.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Celtics' defense was noticeably weaker vs. the Wizards this season when Isaiah Thomas was on the floor.

Marcus Smart on Boston's Round 1 victory over the Bulls: "We were more than just a basketball team. We're a family."

Brad Stevens on the quick turnaround before Game 1 vs. the Wizards: "You're not going to be able to go into an NFL week of prep. … [Game 1] is about playing with a clear mind and going out and playing hard with two or three things to think about, not 15."

Bulls say Rajon Rondo had a family commitment and will reschedule his exit meeting for next week.

ESPN Stats and Information

If the Wizards want to upset the No. 1 seed Celtics in the second round, they'll need a heavy dose of offense from Bradley Beal. In three healthy games this season, the 23-year-old put up big numbers against Boston.

ESPN Stats and Information

Based on how he performed against the Wizards during the regular season, Avery Bradley could have a significant offensive impact for the Celtics in their second-round series against Washington.

Just for the record, when I hear an NBA scout say a guy is, "boom or bust," it immediately calls into question their ability to evaluate.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he would have attended the funeral for Isaiah Thomas's sister Saturday if there had been more time before the start of the Wizards series. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and assistant coach Jerome Allen went with Thomas to Tacoma. Said Stevens: "We all send our best. It's hard to think about how he feels right now." Thomas is expected back Saturday night and should be ready for Sunday's Game 1, though Stevens stressed to Thomas to take more time if he needs it.

Denzel Valentine had the assembled media chuckling while he explained why he basically became a spot up shooter throughout most of his rookie season with the Bulls: "That was pretty much the only option," Valentine said after his exit interview with the Bulls' front office. "Unless you want me to go over there and take the ball from somebody. Go over and steal the ball from Jimmy? Nah."

ESPN Stats and Information

When it's mattered most, "Iso Joe" has been the go-to scorer for the Jazz.

Chris Forsberg ESPN Staff Writer

Celtics forward Jae Crowder, reflecting Saturday on the John Wall nose boop that cost him $25,000: "Emotions took over. A lot was going on that game. Cost me a lot of money. I regret it."

ESPN Stats and Information

Regardless of whether the Jazz or Clippers win Game 7 on Sunday, ESPN's BPI predicts that either team would have less than a 10 percent chance to beat the Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals.
