Kevin Knox won't travel with the Knicks on their two-game road trip and will be re-evaluated in a week, the team said. He sprained his left ankle last night, which was confirmed by an MRI today.

Lauri Markkanen is walking around the practice facility this morning without a brace and was not wearing it at the game last night. Fred Hoiberg says the forward is looking at the same timetable for a return (mid-November) but seeing him without a brace is a "relief." He is doing range of motion work.

Chicago makes it official on the Omer Asik waiver. The Bulls will now incur a $11.3M cap hit this season on the center. Asik had $3M guaranteed for 2019-20 and Chicago will now have the option of stretching that amount over the next three seasons (starting in 2019-20). Cap space for Bulls next summer is fluid based on the $20M team option of Jabari Parker. With Parker on the roster, Chicago projects to have between $25-30M in room. Without the forward and room will increase to $45M. The projected cap space takes into account the $7.5M Bobby Portis free agent hold.

David Fizdale on Kristaps Porzingis being with the Knicks during practice and games while he rehabs post ACL surgery: "It's good for his mindset. When you're out that long and you're dealing with injury and you're dealing with, (you think) if I don't come back the same and man I can't even play and these guys are having fun and competing' and all of that. For him to be around helps. Because it's very easy to go into some depression if you stay away from the team when you're going through something that big. So I think it's really good for him. I know it's good for us. The young guys look to him for advice. And for encouragement. And he sees the game very clearly. The film sessions have been fantastic with him. Just him taking over the film sessions and (saying) hey, we have to do this, do this. I know he needs that right now. To feel connected and like I said he's been fantastic from that point. Totally engaged."

"I hope everyone doesn't get fined," former Laker Metta World Peace to The Undefeated. "It was a fight. It was unfortunate. The first time they've ever thrown punches. They shouldn't do it. It happened. I've never seen them fight before... I don't think anyone should be suspended."
